Tawny in a barb wire fence :(

Rescued this guy (a Tawny frogmouth) yesterday from a barb wire fence. They focus on the food they want to catch and don't know that us humans came along and invented wire with these really sharp barbs on it that they use to keep animals in or out, and then get caught on their swoop to catch a mouse or beetle? One of Australias' most well known Birds of the Night.

You can also see that he's not an owl - doesn't have the same beak for tearing flesh - or talons. Tawnies have pretty simple soft feet - not that you can see in these photos. He did fly for me today so afeter some Tender loving care, good food and rest he should be just fime. We'll make sure he goes back from whence he came too - He probably has girl he's hoping to make babies with real soon.
